Transwoman and their bodies - What I've learned since transitioning
July 31, 2017
|
Debbie Louise Cannon

Ask any woman about their body and a lot of them will tell you things that they hate rather than things that they love about their body.

There's so much body shaming and misogyny in the mainstream media levied towards women, that for many CIS women the thought of shopping, going out in public or even wearing something that is slightly revealing can be daunting. Nevermind doing it as a trans woman.

I went shopping today for some new work clothes, and a bra-fitting (first in 2 years) and whilst all of the shop assistants were lovely and helpful the anxiety of going clothes shopping on your own as a trans-woman is very real.

I want to use today to talk about your bodies, so here are the most valuable lessons I've learned since I transitioned.

If you ask everyone the question what they want in life I bet you 99 out of 100 will answer you with the same reply, "I want to be happy".

I'm hoping that these 5 pointers will help support you in finding your own happiness.

Have you ever noticed people will do everything that they can to avoid change? I mean, they're so focused on it that they complain about the smallest changes.

The next few steps will hopefully empower you to embrace the changes you need to make, in order to be truly happy in your journey.

This week I was contacted by a suicidal transwoman who asked me what I would say to a trans-woman who felt like she didn't have a future and who wanted to take her own life.
This session works through the advice I gave her to help her get through her struggle.

I'm passionate about authentic living and coaching others to through change - so this week's blog is going to look specifically at that. Change has to be about the long haul - period.

Anyone can make a change and then give up - but any significant or worthwhile change is going to take time. Whilst this is from a transgender woman's perspective, the narrative can be taken and applied by anyone who needs to make any significant change - to another way of living or being.

I'm passionate about authentic living and coaching others to live their truth - so this week's blog is going to look specifically at that.  Living your truth or being congruent.  Whilst this is from a transgender woman's perspective, the narrative can be taken and applied by anyone who is not living as they wish to and wants to make a change - to another way of living or being.

Having transitioned for 5 years now, I wanted to share 10 things that I think every trans woman should know as they start, and progress in their transition.

Whilst this is really specific to trans-women I think that most women will see things they can take from this list.

take it with you

Iphone_trans Listening to podcasts on your mobile devices is extremely convenient -- and it's what makes the podcasting medium so powerful.

You can take your favorite shows and mixes with you anywhere, but to do so requires some quick and simple steps.

Let's walk you through that process together.
step 1:

Click the "Subscribe With iTunes" link in the page's sidebar:

Subscribe_with_itunes

This will require that you have the iTunes software on your computer.

(You can download iTunes here.)
step 2:
Itunes_ss

Now that you've subscribed to the podcast on iTunes, the feed will display in your "Podcasts" section on the left navigation bar.

Click there and you'll see the show displayed in the iTunes browser.

You can "get all" to download all available episodes or just individual episodes.
step 3:

Plug your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) into your computer with the Dock Connector cable, and click the device in iTunes's left navigation bar.

Itunes_ss2

Once you have your device highlighted, click "Podcasts" in the top navigation bar and sync the podcasts you want on your device. Click "apply" and the episodes you have downloaded on your iTunes software will sync with your device.
that's it!

The beauty of this process is that now, every new episode of your subscribed podcasts will automatically sync to your device every time you plug it in and open iTunes. You can now take your favorite shows with you everywhere you go.

Enjoy!
done!
